Newsletters

The Off-Campus Learning Centre is aiming to develop a newsletter to provide you with the latest information about off-campus learning. A link will be provided here when the project is complete.

Student online discussion groups

Study Groups take many different forms. They can be conducted in person, via telephone or online. Enhance your own experiences by connecting with other student for study, mutual support, and discussion. You can find a study group most easily via the discussion forums in your MUSO (Monash University Studies Online) subject sites.

Off Campus Students' Association

The Off Campus Students' Association (OCSA) brings together students studying off campus. Its site includes descriptions of the services offered, including:

  • advocating for improvements to off campus teaching delivery
  • a bulletin board
  • a wall planner
  • regular email news updates
  • other services that can help you during your time as a student

Tutoring

If you’re having difficulties with any of your assessment, Monash has a tutoring service which may be able to help you locate a tutor.

Careers, employment and professional development

Monash University Careers and Employment provides information and resources to help graduate job seekers. You can get help with career interests, resume or CV styles, interview techniques, and Australian and international employers. You can also find out about courses and access a range of careers articles and publications. Information on Volunteering opportunities with external organisations is also available.

Accommodation

Monash Residential Services (MRS) assists students by providing an on-campus housing.

Health, Wellbeing and Development

Health, Wellbeing and Development, formerly known as Community Services, offers you support and advice in the following areas:

  • Chaplaincy provides a community focus in developing spirituality for students.
  • A Counselling Service (including an after-hours service) provides students with free, professional and confidential psychological services.
  • The Family and Childcare Service provides support and assistance to students juggling employment and education with family responsibilities.
  • Student Financial Aid can be discussed with a student financial adviser when applying for a student loan.
  • The University Health Service includes nursing care and health monitoring for staff and students with illness and injury. Advice and information is available on a wide range of health issues including immunisation, sexual health, mental health and issues relating to drug and alcohol use.

Disability Liaison Unit (DLU)

If you have a disability or long term medical condition, you are advised to register with the Disability Liaison Unit so that Monash can help support and facilitate your requirements, including making alternative arrangements for assessments and exams if required.

Alumni privileges

All graduates of Monash can take advantage of the range of activities, events, contacts and benefits coordinated by Monash University’s Alumni Program. Get in touch to get involved.

Concerns and complaints

If you have any concerns or have encountered problems, academic or otherwise, you should raise this with your faculty in the first instance. If this fails to resolve the issue, further mediation may be possible. Refer to Student Grievance Information for further information on policies, procedures and resources.

Can’t find what you are looking for? ask.monash

If you are unable to locate information, ask.monash is your web-based customer service centre where you can find answers to frequently asked questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Finance

Monash University has a student loan fund which aims to financially assist student who are experiencing financial difficulties that could affect their ability to complete their course. You can discuss your situation with a student financial adviser and apply for a loan if appropriate. Additional information can be found at Student Financial Aid. Some assistance may also be available through the Gippsland Bookshop Grant Scheme. Contact the Gippsland Bookshop for more information.

Language and Learning Online

Language and Learning Online offers assistance to students who wish to improve their academic performance in areas of essay, report and thesis writing; reading and notetaking; grammar; listening to lectures; giving oral presentations; and much more.

Marketplace

Monash Marketplace provides you with a range of advertising categories from accommodation; to transport and parking; to clubs, sports and recreation. Access is via the my.monash portal.
