Enrolments
Contact your faculty
If you need advice about the course you are completing, for example, study information, important dates such as the
last date you can withdraw from your unit without penalty, or university policy and procedure, then you will need to
contact your faculty. However, before doing so, keep in mind the mechanisms available
to you to help you manage your study programs. Read your unit guides carefully
and remember that procedures can differ according to each faculty. Contact your faculty for
further information.
Enrolment procedures
The following links provide you with a detailed description of enrolment procedures
and relevant forms. However, contact
your faculty should you require further information.
- New enrolments
Refer to Off-campus
learning for information about courses and how to apply. Complete the appropriate application form. All applications
for off-campus study must be submitted directly to the relevant school or
faculty.
- Re-enrolments
To continue your studies in the upcoming year, you must select
your subjects and formally enrol within the designated re-enrolment period.
It is strongly recommended that you seek course advice to ensure your subject
selection meets the requirements of your course structure.
Re-enrol online via the Web
Enrolment System (WES) at my.monash portal.
- Summer Semester enrolments
A Summer Semester is offered by most faculties, usually from November
to February.
To enrol in a Summer Semester subject, you must complete an Enrolment
Amendment Form, available from the Summer Semester site
and faculty offices. Specific subject offerings (and fee arrangements) are available from
15 August each year on the Summer Semester site.
Changes to your enrolment
- Census dates and teaching periods
Each teaching period has various dates by which students can
add a subject and/or discontinue a subject without academic and/or financial penalties. A full list of Monash teaching periods and the main subject discontinuation dates are available at Teaching
Periods and Census Dates.
- Adding and discontinuing subjects
If you are seeking to add or discontinue a subject or subjects, you
should make the amendments via the Web
Enrolment System (WES) at my.monash portal.
- Discontinuing a course
If you wish to fully discontinue from your course, you must
notify Monash in writing within the first four weeks of
the first semester, otherwise you may incur financial or academic penalties. This notification can be done by completing an Enrolment
Amendment Form
- Change of award course
If you are currently enrolled in a course within Monash
and wish to study a different course in the following year, you must complete
an Internal Transfer Application Form, available from faculty
offices. Pending the outcome of your application, you should re-enrol in your current
course.
- Change of campus
Contact your faculty if you
wish to change from one campus to another. There are options available for students to complete part of their course at offshore campuses in Malaysia and South Africa. Refer to Study
at an international Monash campus.
- Deferment of an offer
University policy allows a one year deferment of study for all new undergraduate students. Students should apply to their faculty of intended enrolment. Students intending to study at another institution may not be able to defer their Monash course. Applications for deferment must be made via the Web
Enrolment System (WES) at my.monash portal or in writing to the relevant faculty. Applications must be made prior to the conclusion of the nominated enrolment time.
- Intermissions
If you are currently enrolled and subsequently seek to take
a break in your studies, you must apply to intermit. This can be done via the Web Enrolment System (WES) at my.monash portal or by using the Intermission
Application Form (for coursework, for example) available from
Student Service Centres and faculty offices. Intermission
is normally granted for no more than one calendar year (two consecutive semesters).
- Domestic students – postgraduate
Applications for admission to postgraduate courses must be made
by submitting an Application
for Admission Form. More information is available at Off-Campus
Applications.
- International students – undergraduate and postgraduate
Applications for admission for either undergraduate or postgraduate
courses by prospective international students must be made through International
Admissions. Application
Forms are available online, with more information at Monash
International Apply Now.
Fees and payments
If you require information, or have a query concerning your fee statement,
different types of payment methods, Commonwealth Supported Places, FEE-HELP, discounts, refunds and
more, Fees provides the answers.
Student forms
A variety of student forms
are available for you to download from Student
Service Centres and faculty offices. These forms include:

examinations, if their work has been affected by long term (i.e. more than five days) serious illness, hardships

Course maps
All students must undertake a course of subjects according to the structure
specified in the undergraduate or postgraduate course and unit handbook. From
this, you can create your own course map to help you keep an eye on your progress
and ensure you have selected the correct subjects according to the specified structure
of your course.
Your faculty can provide a course map to help plan your course. Some faculties
such as the Faculty
of Business have this information online. Otherwise, contact
your faculty directly or by typing "course maps" onto Monash's search facility.
